Index of Economic Resilience 2011 - Final Report

September 2011

The Index of Economic Resilience 2011 represents a major update on previous reports published in 2009 and 2010.

The research looks at more than 30 economic measures across 60 urban areas to produce an assessment of relative economic resilience in the six Yorkshire Cities member authorities: Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield and York.

These indicators are grouped under six broad headings, or 'domains' to provide a broadly-based analysis of each area's resilience:

  • economic structure
  • enterprise
  • skilled workforce
  • economic inclusion
  • place & population
  • infrastructure & connectivity

The 2011 Index has been thoroughly revised to take account of current economic circumstances and to make the measures of resilience more forward-looking.

Additional reports for the Leeds City Region LEP and the 6 local authority areas are also available from the Strengthening Local Economies page.
